Conrad Bali marks Earth Day with Expanded Environmental Initiatives

At Conrad Bali, environmental responsibility is central to the resort's daily operations and guest experiences. The resort encourages guests to participate in meaningful experiences designed to foster a deeper appreciation and awareness of the environment.

One of the resort's recent additions is the Kebun Kita Rooftop Herb Garden, which was launched on Earth Day last year. This initiative supports the resort’s garden-to-table dining, cooking classes, and interactive children's activities, offering guests a firsthand experience in sustainable food practices.

“Kebun Kita is more than just a beautiful addition to our property,” says the resort’s Quality Manager, Yogi Puspadi. “It allows our guests to connect with nature and gain practical insights into home gardening and sustainable practices.”

Conrad Bali also launched a new welcome amenity program, inviting guests to plant a mangrove tree as an alternative to traditional fruit offerings. The program directly supports coastal conservation efforts, helping to protect Bali’s ecosystems. Since its launch in 2024, on behalf of guests, the resort has planted 888 mangrove trees through the program.

Conrad Bali’s environmental efforts extend beyond its grounds. The resort partners with Sungai Watch for monthly river cleanups, actively working to preserve Bali’s waterways and mangrove ecosystems.

Additionally, through collaboration with Scholars of Sustenance (SOS) Indonesia, the resort donates excess food from breakfast buffets and events daily. In 2024 alone, this initiative has provided over 33,000 meals to local communities in need.

The resort’s Soap Recycling Initiative with ROLE Foundation repurposes used soap into new bars for underprivileged communities, successfully diverting 237 kilograms of soap waste from landfills, and producing 3,949 bars of soap.

In a recent collaboration with CHOP Value Indonesia, Conrad Bali is upcycling used chopsticks and satay skewers into furniture and household goods, effectively reducing waste and supporting a circular economy.

Conrad Bali ensures responsible sourcing of food and ingredients, including 100% MSC-certified smoked salmon, regeneratively grown rice from Astungkara Way, and cage-free eggs. The resort has introduced Winnow AI, a food waste tracking system that has already reduced kitchen waste by 50% and lowered purchasing costs by 3-8%. To date, this system has helped prevent over 72 tons of food waste.

To further conserve resources, Conrad Bali repurposed wastewater for irrigation and has installed foot-pedal taps in kitchens, reducing water consumption by 1,420m3 to date.

Through practical initiatives and meaningful guest engagement, Conrad Bali demonstrates a diligent approach to responsible luxury hospitality, balancing genuine sustainability with exceptional guest experiences and impactful community involvement.
