Jakarta, FORTUNE — Indonesia is set to host the 47th edition of the World AI Show on July 7–8, bringing together government officials, technology executives, and industry stakeholders to discuss the country's artificial intelligence (AI) strategy amid growing investment in digital infrastructure.
Organized by global business events company Trescon, the conference will be held alongside Finance 2045 under the theme "Architecting Indonesia's Sovereign & Scalable AI Future." The event will focus on AI adoption across industries, digital infrastructure, governance, and enterprise applications as Indonesia seeks to strengthen its position in Southeast Asia's digital economy.
The organizers said the event comes as AI transitions from experimental use cases to core business operations. Citing industry projections, the conference will examine opportunities arising from Indonesia's AI market, which is projected to reach US$10.9 billion, while also addressing challenges surrounding digital sovereignty and infrastructure development.
The conference has received support from Indonesia's Ministry of Industry, the Ministry of Creative Economy, as well as industry organizations including KORIKA and the Artificial Intelligence Society of Indonesia (AISII).
Among the confirmed speakers are Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno, BAPPENAS Deputy for Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation Vivi Yulaswati, Deputy for Digital and Technology Creativity at the Ministry of Creative Economy Muhammad Neil El Himam, KORIKA President Hammam Riza, World Bank Executive Director Wempi Saputra, and representatives from the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), Indosat, Maybank Indonesia, LinkAja, and Erajaya.
The event agenda will cover four major themes: AI infrastructure and data foundations, generative AI and automation, responsible AI ecosystems, and intelligent industries and smart infrastructure. Discussions are expected to focus on enterprise deployment, computing infrastructure readiness, governance, and the cost of implementing AI technologies.
Speaking ahead of the event, Eryk Pratama, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee for AI and Personal Data Protection at KADIN, said AI has become an increasingly important driver of Indonesia's economic growth and digital transformation. However, he emphasized that wider adoption must be accompanied by stronger governance, particularly in data protection, cybersecurity, and ethical AI implementation.
"Success will depend on aligning investment, talent development, and governance frameworks to ensure AI is deployed securely, ethically, and in a way that builds long-term public trust," Pratama said.
A similar view was expressed by Dr. Irvan Bastian Arief, Vice President of Technology, GRAND, Data and AI at tiket.com. He said AI is helping businesses improve productivity, enhance customer experiences, and expand financial inclusion, while stressing the importance of responsible AI practices, talent development, and effective data governance as adoption accelerates.
The conference will also feature participation from global technology companies and enterprise solution providers. Sponsors include Datadog, Zoom, Alibaba Cloud, Google Cloud, Redis, Akamai, and several other technology firms, alongside exhibitors and industry associations supporting AI ecosystem development in Indonesia.
